Editor's Viewpoint: A welcome return
George Mitchell, the US politician who helped broker the Good Friday Agreement and |end decades of violence, will always be |welcome in Northern Ireland and it is good to see him return with his family to take in the sights.
He has lost none of his sharpness — while recognising the tremendous changes that have taken place here he also pointed out that division still remains and will continue to do so for some time.
Yet that division would be immeasurably worse were it not for his sterling work in the late 1990s. A peaceful Northern Ireland is his legacy.
