It is little wonder that so many people are disillusioned with much of Premiership football when they see Chelsea sack the manager who only a few months ago delivered the Holy Grail of the Champions League trophy.
Robert Di Matteo's dismissal is just another reason why the London team has donned the mantle of the side everyone but their fans love to hate.
Not since Don Revie's Leeds United has a team attracted such scorn, but it is perhaps just a symbol of a game which is awash with money, but which has no heart and no real connection with, or concern for, its supporters. They are simply the funders of inflated wages and inflated egos.
