Editor's Viewpoint: Chivalry at its best
Every wife would wish to have a loving and devoted husband like Raymond McGinn.
For 40 years he has been the carer for his wife, Marie, who was a newlywed of only 23 when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. As her condition has deteriorated, so the workload on Raymond has increased.
In recognition of his sterling efforts, the MS Society has given him an award - for which he was nominated by his daughter Deborah. She, along with Marie, knows just how much they owe to Raymond, who modestly says that his ceaseless caring is only what any husband would do. He is one of life's true heroes and thankfully not unsung.
