Editor's Viewpoint: Christine Bleakley discovers the price of fame

Everything has its price, even fame, as local girl, Christine Bleakley is finding out.

Her big money move to ITV's Daybreak programme and its subsequent poor ratings and her romance with Premiership footballer Frank Lampard all mean that she is seldom out of the media, often not cast in the most flattering light.

But she did not get where she is without talent and without the steely resolve to succeed, and unlike many in the public eye she has retained her charm and good humour, which will serve her well as the London-centric media continue to snipe at her. At least she knows that people on this side of the Irish Sea are proud of her.
