Editor's Viewpoint: City is centre stage

The MTV EMAs in Belfast are gearing up to the be the music event of all time as far as the city is concerned.

With Lady Gaga headlining the show and performances by Bruno Mars, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Jessie J and Katy Perry at various venues on the night, it will be every pop fan's dreams come true.

It is a pity there has been some controversy over people trying to sell tickets given out free for the Snow Patrol gig at the City Hall, but that should not detract from what should be a spectacular night's entertainment throughout the city.

The music extravaganza is also a marketing manager's dream and Belfast should certainly be able to cash in on the publicity and promote itself as a happening tourist destination.
