Editor's Viewpoint: Clean cut class

The cynics may poke fun at country singer Daniel O'Donnell, but the Donegal man is having the last laugh.

He has had at least one album in the UK charts in each of the last 25 years, a feat not even long-lived legends like Cliff Richard have been able to match.

This record shows the tremendous enduring appeal of the singer, who must have made a tidy sum from his career. And it puts the lie to the theory that only silver-haired grannies buy his albums.

Surely there must be other admirers of Daniel to keep his hit parade on track, even if they will never publicly admit owning one of his albums.
