Editor's Viewpoint: Dressed to thrill

Not so long ago fashion shows in Belfast usually meant end-of-term displays of their work by students from the former Art College. Anyone serious about the business had to leave for one of the world's fashion capitals to make a living.

But now we have a fully fledged Belfast Fashion Week with the latest styles from the high street, chic boutiques and local designers, one of whom has taken the dome of the City Hall as inspiration for a new creation.

It may not rival the catwalks of Paris, Milan or London, but this local showcase of what's trendy will certainly be in the diaries of 'ladies who lunch' as well as the dedicated followers of fashion.
