Editor's Viewpoint: Galaxy gazing

Scientists at Queen's University are helping to solve the mystery if life as we know it exists elsewhere in the universe. They are building an instrument which will be focused on stars thousands of light years away to see if there are planets similar to earth orbiting them.

The instruments will have to rely on minute pieces of data crossing the cosmos. Imagine if it travelled all that way and someone at this end wasn't paying attention.

It could literally be a case of blink and you miss it. Sorry wouldn't really cut it in those circumstances.
