Editor's Viewpoint: Hopes dashed again
Once again British hopes have been dashed by the failure of Andy Murray to reach the Wimbledon men's tennis final.
He was beaten yesterday in straight sets by Rafael Nadal, and once again his hopes were dashed of becoming the first British male to reach the final since 1938.
Murray is a gifted player, and some day he might just win the Wimbledon championship. In the meantime, it might help if the public allowed him to just get on with the game, without increasing the pressure by placing too-high expectations on this young man who alone carries the hopes of a nation.
Indeed, the same surely applies to the England football team who are similarly burdened with too-high expectations.
