Editor's Viewpoint: In the party spirit in Maiden City

We never really need an excuse to party in Northern Ireland, but we have two good reasons for doing so, starting in Londonderry today.

The Peace One Day concert in the city is free after benefactor Michael Hamyln paid for all the tickets. And on June 30 the Land of Giants event at Belfast's Titanic Slipways will also be free thanks to the Legacy Trust.

These are very generous gestures that give people a chance to enjoy tremendous spectacles at no cost to themselves. Such generosity is not to be snubbed in these times of austerity. So go along, have a good time and keep the party spirit going.
