Editor's Viewpoint: Laughter in sorrow

The death of comedian Frank Carson is obviously a very sad occasion for his friends and wide family circle, but it was also an event which was marked by laughter.

The airwaves, TV shows and the internet were filled with anecdotes about Frank and the retelling of his jokes.

He brought joy to audiences for many years and his catchphrase - 'it's the way I tell them' - was entirely true. His gags came fast and furious but his own evident enjoyment was infectious and even the most cynical found themselves cracking up. Frank would have loved the reaction to his death - even amidst the sorrow his jokes were still bringing laughter.
