Editor's Viewpoint: Miss Helen... can write

To thousands of now-middle-aged people in Northern Ireland she will always be known as Miss Helen, the host of the long-running UTV children's series, Romper Room, in the early 1970s, but now Helen Madden is carving out a new reputation for herself as an award-winning writer.

Famous for her catchphrase 'I can see ... ' as she peered into her seemingly magic mirror to greet some child by name, even she could not have foreseen her present status as an acclaimed author and playwright.

At 65, Miss Helen is winning over new, more mature audiences.
