Editor's Viewpoint: Music to the ears

One of Northern Ireland's most famous sons returns home this weekend to give us a demonstration of his world renowned talent.

Flautist Sir James Galway will be taking part in a special concert to mark his 70th birthday.

Life has been good to the man from north Belfast who once played in a flute band but who now lives in Switzerland and wows huge audiences around the globe. It is therefore something of a surprise to learn that he would not encourage any young person to become a full-time musician because of the high demands of the profession.

Fortunately, that was advice he didn't follow himself. Happy birthday, Sir James.
