Editor's Viewpoint: New stage for Ian

Published 04/10/2012

Like him or loathe him, there is no denying that Ian Paisley was one of the most influential politicians in Ireland for generations. He stood like a colossus over unionism, toppling all other leaders until he stood unchallenged as the dominant force in that section of the population before finally standing down.

His influence on not only the politics but the psyche of the Protestant/unionist community is now being explored in a new play which is to tour the province. Somehow that seems fitting as the Big Man always strode the stage of Northern Ireland in a starring role.
