Editor's Viewpoint: No-light highlight
Tomorrow night a significant part of the world will be plunged into darkness in a bid to highlight the problem of climate change.
During Earth Hour the lights will go out in some 120 countries and regions around the globe. It is a protest which has really caught the public imagination, having started in one city, Sydney, in 2007.
While the event will gain enormous publicity, the recent climate conference in Copenhagen proved that forcing united political action is a near impossible task. Vested interests always find some wriggle room in policies aimed at combating global warming. They are no more likely to see the light after tonight's protest.
