Editor's Viewpoint: O'Neill's sure start
If first impressions are anything to go by, Michael O'Neill could be a success as Northern Ireland's new international soccer manager.
He was sure-footed in his answers, emphasising his own strengths such as organisational ability and passion for the job and also appealing to young players, who are the future of the team, not to desert their native province for greener pastures in the Republic.
He is inexperienced in managerial terms, but he could reignite the fervour among players on which past successes were founded. Certainly he is a breath of fresh air in the job and his intention of building an inclusive team and an inclusive fan base could revitalise interest in and support for Northern Ireland. If he can get off to the same start in this new career as his namesake, Martin O'Neill, has at Sunderland then the crowds will certainly come rolling in.
