Editor's Viewpoint: Rethink these cuts

Published 14/02/2012

Martin Lynch is one of Northern Ireland's leading playwrights and a man who had the vision to see Belfast's Cathedral Quarter as the city's arts hub when it was nothing more than a rundown derelict area.

On page 6 of this newspaper today he speaks eloquently of why Culture Minister Nelson McCausland is mistaken to cut events funding for the area.

His words ring true on every level and the Minister would do well to reconsider his decision.

Do not let what has been a resounding success wither on the vine simply to save what is a relatively small amount of money from the overall public purse.
