Editor's Viewpoint: Sporting gesture

Ulster Rugby is soaring at the moment, both on and off the pitch. With the team unbeaten this season, the bulldozers are now set to go into Ravenhill to begin the near £15m redevelopment of the old ground, creating a modern 18,000-seat stadium.

The Executive deserves credit for its support for sport in the province. It is also funding major improvements to Windsor Park football stadium and Casement Park GAA ground. When the projects are completed the three major sports will have facilities which will be the envy of many other regions. The hope now is that the teams' performances will match the grandeur of their grounds.
