Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson flies into Belfast knowing he was just two or three minutes from being hailed as an all-conquering hero.
For that was the period of time it took hated rivals, Manchester City, to score the two goals needed to clinch the Premiership title in one of the most dramatic finales possible to the season.
That is what makes football so compelling. Now Sir Alex is facing questions about how he can see off the challenge of his noisy neighbours. Will he have the cash to strengthen his team? Has he the energy? Few doubt he has the desire.
