Editor's Viewpoint: The best medicine

Did you hear the one about the Belfast man who opened a comedy club when terrorists still stalked the streets of the city? It may sound like the beginning of a bad joke, but the Empire Comedy Club is now celebrating its 20th year in the business of making people laugh.

Even in the darkest days of the early 1990s, the club drew an impressive audience, showing that while we may have spent decades fighting each other, we could all share a laugh as well. Thankfully times are more normal nowadays and for its birthday bash the club is charging the same entrance fee as 20 years ago - no joking.
