Editor's Viewpoint: The boy done good
Adam Kerr, aged just 12, is officially a National Hero - and it is a title that is more than justified.
Six years ago he donated bone marrow for his little sister, who tragically died a short time later, but that only spurred Adam to raise money for cancer charities and to encourage other children in their treatment and recovery from illness.
His maturity is astonishing and he is a huge help to his mum and his younger brother who suffers from a rare blood disorder. At an age when most kids are concerned merely with childish play, he is offering friendship and assistance to others less fortunate. How many of us can demonstrate a similar outlook? Probably very few.
