Editor's Viewpoint: The chips are down
A burger, sides and soft drink is the archetypal take-away meal, especially for children. But according to a food safety organisation it is a meal which could have long-term health implications.
It can contain a whole day's recommended levels of calories, salt and fat in one sitting and anyone eating such a meal on a regular basis could be dicing with potentially deadly health conditions.
A take-away meal is attractive when time is short but there is no real way of knowing its nutritional or health safety content.
It is obviously far better to concentrate on home-cooked meals which can work out cheaper and are almost certainly healthier.
