Editor's Viewpoint: The perfect host

News reports that a G8 summit - a meeting of the most powerful political leaders in the world - could be held in Northern Ireland had people reaching for the calendars, thinking it must be April 1. It says something for the local psyche that no one would think it possible for such an event to come here.

But, on reflection, perhaps instead of asking why would we host it, we should be saying why not. This is a new era for Northern Ireland, we have built an enviable peace process, we are trying to create a better future on a shared basis. Where better for the masters of the world to meet?
