Editor's Viewpoint: Their turn to shine

Tomorrow sees the opening of the Paralympic Games and we have high hopes for the athletes from Northern Ireland competing.

Some will be hot favourites to gain medals, while others will be aiming for personal best performances. What we can be certain of is that all will deliver top class sporting endeavour.

For these are real top-level sportsmen and women who have overcome disabilities of all kinds to attain a staggering level of performance. They do not need to be patronised or damned with faint praise. They will let actions speak louder than words. Let the Games begin and new sporting heroes emerge.
