Editor's Viewpoint: They're on the ball

Northern Ireland soccer fans have had little to cheer about recently, but that changed for the better at the weekend with the team's stunning victory against Slovenia, away from home.

This was a considerable achievement against a team which reached the final stages of the World Cup, and the victory augurs well for the Northern Ireland Euro 2012 campaign.

However, this was only one hard-won victory. The Northern Ireland soccer team must demonstrate consistency to back up their fabulous start, and the same applies to the Ulster rugby team after their great win over title holders the Ospreys in the Magners League.

But it's so far, so good.
