Editor's Viewpoint: Touts hit bum note

Snow Patrol have a huge and dedicated fan base in Northern Ireland who are rightly proud of their success.

The band hoped to repay them by pitching the ticket prices for their two charity concerts in Belfast next month at a reasonable level. It would allow fans to attend and yet raise a sizeable amount for the designated charities.

Little wonder that lead singer Gary Lightbody is outraged at touts who have snapped up tickets and are selling them at inflated prices. Not only are they denying fans the chance to see their heroes, they are profiting on the backs of some of the least fortunate in society. Shame on them, although Gary - quite rightly - put it more strongly.
