Editor's Viewpoint: Ulster à la mode

Published 09/01/2012

Mon Dieu! First the Americans praise Northern Ireland's tourism attractions with an article in the prestigious National Geographic magazine, and now the French are extolling our virtues as well.

The chief editor of the best-selling Le Guide du Routard has described Ulster people as the friendliest and most courteous folk he has encountered on his many travels all over the world.

These comments will doubtless find favour with even more of the French, who have long shown a penchant for visiting us. It is wonderful to be praised yet again, but we must also remember that we have to continue to live up to our high reputation for friendship and courtesy.
