Editor's Viewpoint: Ulster needs Ferris
The ankle injury of Ulster rugby star Stephen Ferris is being subjected to the same public scrutiny as David Beckham's broken metatarsal before the 2002 football World Cup, and for much the same reason.
Ferris is one of the world's great flankers and his absence from the |Ulster squad for the Heineken Cup quarter final clash with Munster this weekend would seriously weaken the team's chances.
No doubt every modern medical aid is being used to ensure Ferris takes to the field. Perhaps the fervent prayers of the Ulster rugby fans will also work their collective magic and restore the big man to fitness.
The sight of him running out of the tunnel would be worth a few points to the Ulster team.
