Editor's Viewpoint: Vitally important

It is an organisation which, over the past 20 years, has transformed the lives of thousands of disadvantaged young people from both communities in Northern Ireland and the Republic.

Springboard, through its innovative programmes, enables young people to learn skill sets, experience life outside their own areas and to discover their own self-worth.

Jonny Quinn, the drummer of Snow Patrol, is a marquee success story of the organisation, but there are many others, if lower profile.

Now the body itself needs help as its funding is about to run out. In the scale of things the funding is not enormous and certainly the Stormont Executive should try to plug the fiscal gap. What price do we put on our young people's future?
