Lucinda Casey is a far cry from the normal model to grace Italian Vogue. She is 38, an IT specialist and has a curvaceous figure equating to that of the woman in the street rather than the size zero body of most models.
A curvy woman just over five feet tall with red hair and glasses is certainly a departure from the usual Amazonian figure to stride down the catwalk.
But she now finds herself in demand for modelling and film work, a welcome development in a profession which often promotes an idealised but unrealistic body image. Belatedly the fashion industry seems to be realising using models like Lucinda brings its creations to the attention of a wider public and makes ordinary women feel more confident about themselves and how they look.
