Editor's Viewpoint: Winter wonders

It may seem strange for a country which is unable to deal with a light dusting of snow to have any real interest in the Winter Olympics which start in Vancouver today.

Yet Northern Ireland will have two very special reasons for following events in Canada.

Ice dancer, Jenna McCorkell, and paralympic skier, Kelly Gallagher, who is partially sighted, may be outside bets for medals, but they have already proved their ability in getting on the Olympic stage. They carry with them the best wishes of everyone in the province and the hope that their years of training and dedication will pay off.
