Editor's Viewpoint: Worth his weight...

Northern Ireland should be proud of Michael McKillop, the double Paralympic gold medal winner and world record holder. He has brought great honour to the province with his athletic prowess. But sadly there has been no beneficial legacy for him from London 2012.

His only funding is from the Irish Sports Council. It appears that no commercial concern wants to hitch its name to this star athlete. To reach his standard is time-consuming and expensive.

Surely, even in these straitened times, there must be some sponsors willing to invest in a young man who can run like the wind and who is one of our finest ambassadors.
