Evans will need to be in top gear to keep show fans happy

No one has such a long career in the demanding world of broadcasting as Chris Evans without having a real talent for making and presenting successful television and radio shows. So there is every chance that his Midas touch will again work when he sits in the driving seat of Top Gear.

But he will be in for a bumpy ride as Clarkson, Hammond and May are a very hard act to follow. With their blokey, off-the-wall humour, they appealed to the petrolheads who made the show the biggest in the world.

However, if Evans and his as yet unnamed co-presenters can tap into the same psyche, they can prove the naysayers wrong
