Exciting festival sure to appeal to wide audience

The Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen's – rather harshly – has the reputation as being elitist, a series of events for the most dedicated culture vultures.

Undeniably it contains more high end artistic endeavour than any of the plethora of other festivals staged in Northern Ireland over the year. But surely that is the purpose of the arts, to challenge as well as entertain.

And festival director Richard Wakely is keen to bring the events to as wide an audience as possible.

The teaser acts just announced show the range of acts that we can expect from the full programme. The really exciting news is that more and more artists are clamouring to get on the bill and the festival's perennial financial problems seem to be easing.

So, why not take advantage of some inspirational arts and get along to this year's Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen's?
