The skirl of the pipes is part of the culture of Northern Ireland, and our local band members have shown again this weekend that they are the best in the world.

In particular the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band has hit the top note by winning the World Championship for a record-equalling tenth time, and for the fourth time in a row.

This is an incredible achievement, but great praise is also due to the other Ulster pipe bands who won major prizes in competing against a combined 188 bands in the World Championships in Glasgow.

Clearly when it comes to piping, we are truly outstanding, and well in tune with the times.
