Fingers crossed for a feast of Irish football at Euro 2016

In the European soccer championship, the Irish Republic will have its last chance tonight to reach next year's finals in France.

If the Irish win, this will be the first time that teams from the Republic and Northern Ireland will have qualified for the same major tournament.

This would be a feast of football for local supporters. Michael O'Neill, who has worked wonders in the North, has echoed all our thoughts in today's Belfast Telegraph by hoping that the Republic's players can match the success of their northern colleagues.

We all wish them the best of luck, and we hope that they win well.
