When it comes to sporting prowess you just cannot keep Northern Ireland out of the frame.
Our golfers lead the world, snooker player Mark Allen has just scooped a major trophy, and now equine star Hurricane Fly, whose owners live in the province, has won one of the blue riband races at the Cheltenham Festival, the apex of National Hunt racing.
In winning the Champion Hurdle yesterday Hurricane Fly became only the second horse in 38 years to regain the crown. It was an astonishing feat, but one which many punters were confident the horse could achieve and Hurricane's victory will have cost the bookmakers a pretty packet.
Not that many tears will be shed for them and no doubt at the end of the week they will also end up on the winners' rostrum.
