Hardworking Queen and her consort are true inspiration
Critics of the royal family who claim they don't give value for money should look at the workload of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as outlined in this newspaper today and think again.
Their service to the United Kingdom in the winter of their lives - they are 89 and 94 respectively - has been exemplary and they do more to enhance the nation's reputation around the world than any politician.
Indeed, the Queen's visit to the Republic helped thaw historic tensions in these islands to a degree which seemed impossible a relatively short time ago. They are a true inspiration.
