Health Minister must find money for meningitis vaccine
One of government's primary roles is the provision of the best possible healthcare system. Politicians at Stormont must ensure that they do not allow standards here to fall behind other regions of the UK.
That is why Health Minister Simon Hamilton should find the money to introduce a new vaccination programme to combat the potentially deadly meningitis B strain of the disease. All newborn babies in England and Scotland are to be offered the vaccination from September.
So far health officials here have been unable to set a date for a similar programme. They should remember that delays could cost lives.
