Hospital staff who helped dying bride an example to us all

We often take the efforts of hospital staff for granted, failing to recognise the incredible work they do every day, often looking after desperately ill people and providing care with a very human touch.

That quality was demonstrated in spades at Altnagelvin Hospital when staff transformed a consulting room into a chapel fit for the wedding of a terminally ill woman and her partner. Sadly, she was unable to go to the room, but she made her vows at her bedside before dying a few hours later. It was never going to be a happy-ever-after story, but staff went the extra mile to help a couple fulfil their dream. No one could ask more.
