Influx of new jobs a most welcome boost to economy
The announcement that 300 well-paid IT jobs are coming to Northern Ireland is welcome, for they will pump £9.9m into the economy.
The province saw off competition from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Manila for the investment, demonstrating that the skills of our workforce and the quality of our infrastructure are key considerations for incoming firms.
Also welcome are the additional 30 jobs being created at Titanic Belfast, which has become an important tourist attraction, surpassing even its own targets. But the cloud of uncertainty caused by Brexit is still hovering overhead, and we hope these positions are not just isolated rays of sunshine.
