Intrepid snappers fought through the rain to capture amazing images of Northern Ireland

Saturday, the day of this newspaper's One Summer's Day photographic competition, turned out to be very untypical of this summer with a constant downpour covering the province. However, that did not dampen the spirit of our readers who have flooded us with some amazing images of this beautiful country.

Sadly, the weather forecasters are predicting more rain than sunshine in the coming days, making July seem like a distant memory already.

However, even the experts can be wrong – anyone remember Michael Fish denying that a hurricane strength storm was on the way towards the south of Britain shortly before it hit? So let's hope that the summer sunshine returns for the rest of the holidays.
