Irish League legend Jimmy will never be forgotten

Jimmy Jones will always be associated with the heydays of Irish League football. And he played no small part in making them memorable.

His goalscoring feats are legendary and he set records which are unlikely to be surpassed.

But even more remarkable was that some of those records were set after he suffered a broken leg which it was feared would end his career.

It happened during an infamous brawl at Windsor Park when the big striker, then playing for Belfast Celtic, was attacked by Linfield fans as he left the pitch.

The incident forced Belfast Celtic out of local football, but it couldn't keep Jimmy down.

We will not see his likes again.
