It is only right we are given access to this art collection
Great art is of little point unless it can be viewed, ideally by as wide an audience as possible, and Finance Minister Mairtin O Muilleoir deserves praise for his decision to make the very valuable Northern Ireland Civil Service collection of paintings - which we paid for - available throughout the province.
Displaying it in hospital waiting rooms, schools or libraries - as well as properly curating the collection and adding to it - is an encouraging development. The paintings will bring joy to many people and perhaps even inspire a new generation of artists. Art should not be the preserve of the privileged, or hidden away from public view.
