It's not a hanging offence, but City Council must do better
Our local authorities do sterling work in attempting to brighten up our cities, towns and villages through floral displays and they do much to lift people's spirits and put an acceptable face on the built-up environment for visitors to our shores.
However, the hanging baskets in east Belfast which we feature today have produced the exact opposite effect, causing discontent among residents and creating an undesirable vista for anyone passing through. Surely the City Council can do more than simply let the displays wither away and the soil dry out before removing these eyesores. Time to turn over a new leaf perhaps?
