Julie's brave decision to go public could help save lives
Julie Clarke deserves great credit for revealing that she is suffering from the most intimate female type of cancer. As she says herself, even going to the doctor with such a gynaecological condition is embarrassing for any woman, never mind speaking about it publicly.
Yet she has done a great service to women by highlighting the disease. It may be rare, with only around 33 cases diagnosed in Northern Ireland annually, but even if she saves just one life, her decision to go public will be more than justified. Let us hope that women worried about their symptoms heed her advice and seek medical help.
