Just champion! Conlan is Ulster's golden boy of the ring

Northern Ireland has long punched well above its weight in sport, and this is literally true for our golden boy Michael Conlan.

He is the first local boxer to clinch a senior World Amateur Championship, by winning a gold medal for Ireland in the bantamweight competition in Doha.

Michael is one of a long line of fighters who have brought great sporting honour to this part of the world, and he is also yet another of the many outstanding winners in football, golf and other sports who have put us so gloriously and so often on the international map of acclaim.
