Katie an inspiration

We defy anyone to read the last blog of terminally ill former ice-skating star Katie Scarbrough and not be moved to tears.

The 32-year-old mum of two admits that her bowel cancer has beaten her in spite of her ferocious determination to survive and has told her two little children that she is going to die.

But it is her heart-rending despair at not seeing her children grow up, not seeing what they will become or who they will marry, or any of the other hopes that all parents have which will strike a chord with everyone. Her touching eloquence will be a fitting epitaph to a brave young woman facing the end of her tragically short life.
