We all know that there are many kind people out there who care deeply for the welfare of animals, taking in stray or abandoned dogs, cats, donkeys and horses and trying to find them new homes.

But Bangor woman Bronagh O'Neill combines her love of animals with compassion for their owners.

Her new charity helps people suffering from infirmity or illness to look after their pets, who often may be their only companion in the world. Her charity ensures that a vital emotional attachment is maintained. To paraphrase an old cliche, she is a pet's - and its owner's - best friend.
