Larne sees the light after Christmas tree criticisms
No one can accuse Larne's council officials of being Scrooges. For when they learned that the town's civic Christmas tree was being derided by ratepayers, they moved swiftly to replace it.
Councils are often accused of not heeding the views of the people who effectively pay their wages, so it is encouraging to find that is not the case in the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
A well-decorated town centre is an expected part of the retail offering, and Larne now boasts a sparkling centrepiece. That will be welcomed by local retailers, who traditionally make a substantial part of their income at this time.
